Ben H. Brooks III graduated from the Mobile County Public School System.  He received his undergraduate degree from the University of South Alabama (1980) and his law degree from the University of Alabama (1983).  He has been actively involved in private practice since that time.  Mr. Brooks has practiced in a number of areas and serves upon appointment as a Court Ordered Mediator.

Mr. Brooks is serving in his second term in the Alabama State Senate since being first elected in 2006.  Among other committee assignments in the State Senate Mr. Brooks serves as Co-Chairman of the Judiciary Committee.  He previously served on the Mobile City Council from 2001 through 2006.  During his service on the Council he served as Chairman of the City Council Finance Committee for the City of Mobile.  Mr. Brooks also previously served for several years as Special Judge of the Mobile County District Court (a pro bono position).
