
Tara Drinkard Barber was born in Birmingham, Alabama in 1974. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Springhill College in 1996. In May of 2000, Mrs. Barber received her Juris Doctorate from Loyola University in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was admitted to the Alabama State Bar in 2000 and to the Mississippi State Bar in 2001.
While in law school, Mrs. Barber was selected to be a member of the Loyola Moot Court Staff. She also served as a Teaching Assistant for the Loyola Moot Court Program. Additionally, Mrs. Barber spear-headed the formation of the Loyola Program for Battered Women and Rape Victims in connection with the YWCA of New Orleans. For her work in this area, Mrs. Barber was awarded the Loyola University of Law’s Gillis Long Public Service Award.
Following an internship with the Honorable Ferrill D. McRae, Circuit Court Judge, Mrs. Barber began practicing in the areas of civil litigation, corporate law and estate planning. She is a member of both the Alabama and Mississippi State Bar Associations. Additionally, she is a member of the Mobile Bar Association and has been actively involved in the Association’s various committees including the Young Lawyers’ Executive Committee, the Probate Committee, and the Elder Law Committee.
Mrs. Barber is admitted to practice before all State and Federal courts in Alabama as well as the Chancery Courts of Mississippi.
